Guangzhou Medical University is located in Guangzhou which is the third largest port city in China. Initially, after its establishment in 1958, the university was known as Guangzhou Medical College. Guangzhou Medical University now comprises of four campuses. The main Campus is located on Dongfeng Road West and the other three campuses are in Longdong, Haizhu and Jianggao.
GMU recruits from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Chinese central government, Hong Kong and Macao regions to recruit 1,500 undergraduates and 550 postgraduates (master and doctors) in each year. There are 23300 full-time students, including 10000 undergraduates, 1300 graduates, and 12000 continuing education students.
