Ningxia Medical University

Ningxia Medical University was established in the year 1958. Earlier, it was known as Ningxia Medical College. The University is the unique higher learning medical institution of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The University is located in the capital city, Yinchuan. It is referred to as “The South Beauty beyond the Great Wall” in the Northwest.

Ningxia Medical University covers an area of approximately 833,000 square meters. It comprises over 90 training hospitals, 17 teaching institutions, 12 teaching hospitals, 11 affiliated hospitals, 10 teaching assistant departments, and 4 scientific research institutions. The General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University is a comprehensive top-notch tertiary hospital integrating clinical treatment, education, examination, scientific research, and training.

The university has one double-hired academician, over 5,660 teaching staff and healthcare workers, including 735 full-time teachers, out of whom there are 422 professors and associate professors; 52.24% have a Master’s Degree and 30.48% have a Doctor’s Degree.

Presently, there are more than 26,000 students in the university. There are about 9,376 full-time students, 1,256 postgraduates, and 122 foreign students. The university forms a professional discipline system with local characteristics, which focuses on medical disciplines, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine coexisting, and multi-discipline coordinated development.

Depending on the advantage of the ethnic region, and strengthening the research and development of Hui Medicine, the university established the School of Hui Medicine of Ningxia Medical University, Hui Medicine Research Institute, Affiliated Hospital of Hui Medicine & Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ningxia Hui Medicine Modern Engineering & Technological Research Center, and Ningxia Hui Medicine Collaborative Innovation Center, and built the Chinese Cultural Museum of Hui Medicine. The education and research of Hui Medicine has become one of the unique features of the university.

Ningxia Medical University has established academic and friendly collaborative relationships with many scientific research institutions and universities both at home and abroad, such as the University of South Florida of America, Sanford Medical School of South Dakota University of America, Shimane University of Japan, Australian National University, Italian University of Ferrara, Peking University, Fudan University, Shandong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Capital Medical University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Xiamen University.
